Calm on a blanket - dog love your blanket
When you take a short break between training exercises
- take a break, take a break or something
- reward on the carpet
- when the dog offers behavior you want more of, such as:
hanging out around you
sitting/lying down
just standing still and looking around a bit
- reward on the carpet
- even if it has moved a little away from the carpet
- reward inside the carpet
For example, when you arrive at a new place and park the car
- lay your carpet
- lift the dog out = reward
- reward on the carpet for: looking around a bit being calm sitting, lying down, etc.
- just let the dog look at the world and pay for calm
Calm on carpet
The puppy bites
If you are sitting on the sofa or the floor
- have something your puppy can bite on, e.g. a toy – before you sit down
- offer it what it can bite on
- if the puppy bites you instead == pull your hands to your chest – do nothing
- if it stops, offer the puppy the toy again
If it tries to bite you again
- say e.g. AV get up and maybe walk away a bit
- go back and show it what it can bite on
- if it again bites
- tell AV to go behind a child gate or a door for max 10 seconds
- come back calmly and maybe offer it something to bite on again
Puppy bites your pants or dog leash
- offer the puppy an alternative behavior such as: muzzle pacifier, tug-of-war or other
You can if you can predict when and what the puppy bites
– prevent it by doing:
- pull-of-war
- calm around the food exercise
- or other fun
Before it starts biting
Contact: spontaneous
- On the walk
reward when the dog looks at you on its own initiative - When it is loose
every time the dog comes towards you
hangs out by you Video Links
Contact: return to sender - dog looks over shoulder at you
- throw a treat
- when your dog has eaten it and returns to you
- mark e.g. GOOD, CLICK = treat
- repeat
Return to sender with movement
- throw a treat
- move away calmly
- when your dog walks/runs towards you
- mark e.g. GOOD, CLICK = treat
- repeat
- build more and more movement on
- change directions, pace
e.g. running, jumping away, walking slowly/quickly
moving away in a zigzag backwards, etc. - your dog should find it A PARTY to come back to you

Return to sender-come back to me
Contact: yoga - dog look at me - opt out of temptations
Switch: Up/down
Practice the exercise in all places where there is no or only little disturbance so the dog knows the “game”
– Practice the exercise with more and more disturbances, e.g. other dogs, smells, noise, people, etc.
– A great exercise to get in touch with the dog
– A great exercise for when you have to pass something that may be difficult for the dog, e.g. other dogs, people, etc.
Up/Down
- like treat on the ground – stand still
- when dog looks up at you
- click and reward in the dog’s mouth
- repeat
Up/Down in motion
- like treat on the ground – stand still
- when she looks up at you
- click and walk 1 step forward and lay reward on the ground
- repeat
Carefully add 1-4 steps. You can ALWAYS just do the up/down again and continue moving.
If your dog has a hard time and looks at, for example, a dog –
– but stands still – without jumping forward – then you can easily
- click and reward, for example, in the mouth or on the ground right in front of the dog (so as not to rush forward, so the dog stands still but without looking at you)
- repeat and thus get back to the exercise so that it looks at youVideo links
Contact – up and down – with movement
Contact: drop it / chase food (taught individually)
if your dog is standing and dancing/hanging on the leash away from you, you can try
- take a treat
- find the dog’s snout and turn it towards you reward
- drop/lay a treat a little to one side
- as soon as the dog has eaten it and before it considers running away
- show the dog a treat and lay it a little to the other side
- repeat like a kind of ping ⇒ pong ⇒ ping ⇒ pong
- then try to withhold a treat and see if the dog offers contact and reward
- repeat
- then you withhold your treat for a moment when it has made contact and see if you should get a sit, reward and continue so that you get the following:
- ping ⇒ contact ⇒ sit ⇒ pong = lots of reward
- after a short time you have the dog in front of you instead of where the grass is greener
Snout nuzzle - dog nuzzles on hand
When you take a short break between training exercises
- take a break, take a break or something

just stands still and looks around a bit
- reward on the carpet
- even if it has moved a little away from the carpet
- reward inside the carpet
When you arrive at a new place and park car
- like your blanket
- lift the dog out = reward
- reward on the blanket for:
looking around a bit
being in a pose
sitting, lying down etc - just let the dog look at the world and pay for the poseVideo links

- place a food against the dog’s tail
- place your hands in your lap with the food
- repeat – as soon as the dog turns towards you
- gradually wait 1, 2, 3 seconds. etc. before placing a treat against the dog’s tail
- when the dog starts to stay calm in front of you
- gradually just place the treat between the front paws
If the dog lunges for the food
- hold the food can with both hands
- up
- or stand up or sit on a chair

Calm around food
Tempt with treats - now you have to take the treat
Friste Begynder & Fortsætter
Tempt with toys - now you can take the toy / CURSOR SIGNAL
– Teach the dog to wait for its MARKER SIGNAL when it can take a toy
– MARKER SIGNAL can be e.g. yes, get it, jackpot, bingo, leg, play etc
– we can use it as a reward when e.g. calling
– e.g. you call bitch koooom…….it comes….say e.g. Yes = toy
– this way you get the desired behavior marked – like e.g. good= treat
– practical so the dog doesn’t jump up for it
– is an excellent and fun way to reward your dog and create added value for you
– put the toy away when it is not used for training
Practical
- hold the toy so that the dog cannot grab it – set it up for success
- when the dog is standing or sitting calmly
- NOTE
– if it jumps up after that, pull it away without commenting on it
– it is very difficult for your dog
– ask it to SIT – reward a few times with treats – continue to the next step - say clearly e.g. YES = make the toy fun….play play play
- say let go, mine etc or exchange with treats if it does not have a verbal signal to let go
– watch video Pull-play
Video links are on way…
Walk nicely on a leash - hang out by my side without pulling
Step 1
- reward behind next to one of your shoes – dog turns a quarter/half turn towards you
- while the dog takes the treat walk one step ahead of it in the walking direction
- dog raises its head walks 1-2 steps with you, say good/click
- reward again behind next to one of your shoes
- repeat
- the dog is super fast ahead of you
– as soon as the dog is on its way towards you by your side – find the dog’s nose with your treat – reward behind again
Step 2
- when the dog starts to understand how to stay by your side / around you without walking/rushing forward
- can you when the dog walks by your side, say good/click and reward it directly in the mouth
Step 3
- now you can start to place the reward, for example, in the grass, still a little behind
- when the dog walks and sniffs good/click and reward for sniffing behavior
Note. Marker signal, for example click/good, you add just before you deliver the treat – if it is too difficult, remove the marker signal until you experience your timing with treats working
Tighten harness/line = Check in
When the dog is WAY too fast and pulls ahead of you
- stand completely still – let the dog stand looking at the world – everything stops
- the second the dog thinks about something other than that it looks at YOU very much
- yup click/good job you came here and got your treat as you were lying behind
- continue your walk
YoYo/Pentagon
Is almost the same as Tight leash/line = check in but your dog runs forward on the leash, comes back to get a treat and runs out on the tight leash over and over and over like a horizontal yoyo…
- we do the same as at the top of the description BUT we stay in the same place/area
like a pentagon until there is contact from the dog - the dog stands on a tight leash and looks at the world
- the second the dog looks/turns towards you say good/click
- come here and get your treat as you lie next to one of your shoes a little behind
- while it eats
- walk calmly 1-2 steps to the side (loose leash) and the second the dog looks/turns towards you/walks towards you, say good/click
- reward again behind your shoe
- repeat the pattern as needed and continue your walk
Remember: All dogs are different, and your trainer may deviate slightly from the description once you have been trained

Turn the dog
is like a food magnet to get the puppy/dog away NOW from other dogs, people, garbage, etc.
- take a treat/paste in your hand
- find the dog’s snout
- give the dog a treat and repeat
- now find the dog’s snout and walk a few steps with the dog and give a treat
- make a semicircle one way give a treat
- and the other way
- practice so you can always pull the emergency brake
- imagine a treat+snout are two magnets there hugs

Flip the dog
Watching movements e.g. dogs, birds, cyclists, etc.
We teach the dog to remain calm while there are movements such as
- dogs, birds, cyclists, runners, etc.
- the dog is calm without doing anything about it

Watching movements
Passing other dogs on the walk
- reward from behind at one side of you or in the dog’s mouth while it is at your side
with a high frequency of reward - possibly move to the opposite side if it is too difficult for the dog
Depending on where the dog is in its training
- then you can ask the dog for a Sit and reward with a high frequency
while the opposite dog passes you - feel free to train Sit/STAY at the same time see video
Greet other dogs/people and other things on the trip
A trigger = scents, dogs, people, sounds, etc.
- If the dog doesn’t pull you away
- Place your hand in front of the dog’s muzzle – hand target
- Guide the dog towards the trigger, with a loose leash and say e.g. go, go, hello or something else
When you see the trigger – before the dog
- Reward behind you on one side
- As soon as the dog is by your side..find the nose with a treat
- Reward again behind you
-before the dog passes you - When you are e.g. 2 m from there
- place your hand in front of the dog’s muzzle – hand target
- guide the dog towards the trigger with a loose leash and say e.g. go, off or something else
Dog started pulling before you saw the trigger
- work your way down the leash
- find the dog’s nose with the guf -emergency brake
- turn dog around – walk a little away from the trigger
- reward – reward – reward
- place your hand in front of the dog’s nose -hand target
- guide the dog towards the trigger with a loose leash and say e.g. go, off or something else

Summons
The return to sender exercise is the essence of a strong call
- first behavior / come back to me / before a call signal
- REMEMBER your “set up” must be successful EVERY TIME :O)
- if this is not the case STOP calling and change what you are doing
- always use a long line for safety

Draw game
Toy with long string
Fun play = energy out of the body
- toy is dragged along the ground
- dog runs after – repeat as needed
- end = exchange with a treat
Energy out of the body + calm
- play + sniff + play + play + sniff repeat as needed
- the play part gets smaller and smaller so that calmness comes in
- maybe end with a king with some wet food in the dog’s basket or blanketVideo links
Play with string
Counting game - 1 treat, 2 treats.......etc.
The dog follows you
- The dog is sniffing and is very busy with something
- Place yourself so that the dog can hear and possibly see you
- Count 1 treat, 2 treats, etc. Max 10x
- When the dog comes to eat
- Go to a new place and repeat
If the dog has no interest in you
- Move closer to the dog
- And start again, repeat

Count Play
Eats everything from the ground - uhhh....
- every time your dog eats indifferent things like sticks, leaves, grass, etc.
- sprinkle food while you say, for example, UHHHH…make a food path away from what it eats
- when it drops the stick, for example
- take the stick and possibly give it back the stick when it has finished eating
- practice this repeatedly – preferably daily
- then you will gradually start to see the dog respond to UHHH = drop what it eats
- i.e. UHHHH = good things are coming to me = drop what I have in my mouth

Handling
Brush coat, dry paws, touch, etc.
Reinforcement: LickiMat with wet food, nibble on a tube, delicious treats, etc.
- Sit on the floor, put the dog on a table or something
- Use a special mat/carpet in a specific place for the exercise
- The dog is placed sideways, in front of you, head towards you or wherever you want it to stand. Use LickiMat, tube of pâté, etc.
- start gradually introducing “handling” while the dog is eating
If the dog stops eating while you are handling it
- stop “handling” immediately
- show the dog your hands and give it a pat as a thank you for saying no
Lifting the dog
- Put a little treat under the puppy’s nose while you have a friendly hand on its shoulders
- continue rewarding and gently slide your hand down towards/onto the belly
- gradually you can lift – without lifting while rewarding – just so the puppy feels your hand under the belly or wherever it makes sense
- then lift the dog up and down briefly. Give reward
- repeat as needed
Lean on and off
- place some gum on the surface under the dog’s nose
- clip the leash on and off and repeat with gum
- gradually you can show the dog the leash – put gum – clip the leash on and off – repeat
- show the dog the leash – clip the leash on and off give gumNB If the dog pulls away at the sight of the leash – then you have gone too fast
– just go back a few steps

Alone at home
Starting a home workout alone
Below are a few examples of how you can start separation at home with your puppy and home training alone.
It is recommended that you do it daily as a good routine as much as possible.
The videos are based on the individual puppy in its help on a Puppy Visit.
If you have difficulty getting started, let me help you on a puppy visit or a behavior course.
I highly recommend a camera (check your email when registering – it’s a great offer) so you can follow and know exactly what your puppy is doing
